Word Sailing

Please Note: Word Sailing has given me more problems, and more frustration by far, than any other game on my site. The game works about half the time. And half the time it doesn't work correctly. If it is not working right now for you, please try this link. This is the exact same game I have here, except it is put out by a different sponsor: Miniclip. The Miniclip version of Word Sailing seems to be much more reliable. You can play it for free as much as you like, and on full screen! If you do play the Miniclip version of Word Sailing, here is one piece of advice. If you lose a race and want to play again, click the purple 'Play Again' button in the lower right corner of the pop-up box. (The button is almost obscured by the 'Save Score' box. But, look carefully, and you will have no problem seeing it). By the way, you may be wondering why I simply do not use the Miniclip version of Word Sailing here on Richard's Game Reviews. I wish I could. But unfortunately, I need the proper permission. And I simply do not have it.

Game Description: Go island hopping in style! Spell words to power your boat and win the race!

How to Play Word Sailing:
  • Click on the boat you want to sail. You may choose red, green, or yellow.
  • There are 3 different games you can play.
  • Action Race is a fast-paced free-for-all where you race against the two other boats. You can make words at any time!
  • Race By Turns is a turn-based race. You also race the two other boats but you can take your time to make the best word you can.
  • In Puzzle you play alone and try to finish each course in 10 words or less.
  • To choose your game type, click the 'Play' button under the game you want to play.
  • Each game has 3 difficulty levels: Easy, Medium, or Difficult. Click the button to select the difficulty level you wish to play.
  • You will hop to 10 different islands on your journey from St. Thomas to Trinidad for Carnival! So, each race has 10 legs.
  • There are 11 letter tiles at the top of the game screen. (You may have to scroll left or right a little to see all 11 letters). Click on each letter, one at a time, to spell a word. Then, click the 'Submit' button.
  • Each word you submit must be at least 2 letters in length.
  • If a word is unacceptable Word Sail will signal you with a buzzing sound, and you must try again.
  • As you click each letter you will see the word you are forming at the bottom of the game. If you should change your mind while forming a word, click the 'Clear' button to begin again.
  • Click the 'Shuffle' button to rearrange the letters at the top.
  • When your boat runs into a floating crate with the letter 'D' on it, this creates a new temporary button at the top labeled 'Dump Letters'. You may click on the 'Dump Letters' button at anytime to get 11 new letters. Once you click on the 'Dump Letters' button it will disappear and will not become available again until you are able to run into another floating crate. (The 'Dump Letters' button does not carry over from one race leg to another. So, if it is unused, it will also disappear at the end of a race leg).
  • Each letter tile has a number at the lower right corner. This number represents the number of points you will earn when you use that letter in a word.
  • Your goal is to use letters to make words that have lots of points, so you can win each race leg.
  • If you win all 10 legs you win the race!
  • If you lose a leg the game is over!
  • Notice: When the game ends (either when you win the last race, or if you lose a race leg) you will need to hit the refresh button on your web browser to play again. The game will not automatically reload.

Word Sailing Game Options:
  • Click the microphone icon located at the lower right corner of the game to turn the game sound on or off.
Word Sailing Playing Tips:
  • Remember, each letter has a point value. The points for each letter are shown at the lower right on each letter tile. Watch this carefully. Not all tiles are the same. For instance, one letter 'E' may have a point value of 1, but another letter 'E' may have 2 points. Obviously, in such an instance, you would use the letter 'E' with the most points.
  • Longer words don't necessarily give you more points. It is the point value of each letter that counts.
  • As you spell each word pay attention to the 'Wind' number near the bottom of the game. The 'Wind' number represents the number of points for the word you are currently forming. The more points your word earns, the more wind you will have to sail your boat, and the faster you can get to the finish line.
  • Be careful with the letters 'G' and 'C'. They look very similiar. So, you will have to distinguish between the two.
  • Use the 'Reshuffle' button as much as you need. This may help you to spot new words.
  • As you play each game you can watch the progress of your boat, as well as that of your competitors, on the line graph toward the bottom of the screen.
Richard's Rating: 4 out of 5.

Pro: With clever sounds and graphics Word Sailing is quite the game! There are 3 different Word Sailing games. Each game is easy to understand and play. I like the fact that each game has 3 difficulity levels. If you enjoy Word games, I predict that Word Sailing will quickly become one of your all-time favorites!

Con: I have no problem with the game itself. As a matter of fact, I think Word Sailing is terrific. I just want to bring up one minor technical issue. Once the game ends, the game will very likely not automatically reload. So you will probably need to hit your refresh button on your web browser to play again.

What's New Pages Image
The main purpose of the What's New? pages is to tell you about any news, and any changes, here at Richard's Game Reviews. However, I also use these pages as sort of an online journal; and I sometimes talk about day-to-day things in my personal life too.

I don't post to these pages regularly, or follow any certain schedule. In fact, I have been known not to post here for weeks, and occasionally even for months at a time. As I said in my very first What's New? post: I will post "as the spirit moves me." So, just check in here every once in a while to see if I have anything new to say.

Disaster averted! Today I noticed that seven of my games were down including two of my oldest games: Deal or No Deal and Koala Checkers. I accidently found out about this while doing some routine maintenance on my site. For all I know, they could have been down for days?

This gives me the opportunity to remind everyone, once again, that if you do happen to notice that one of my games is down, or not working as it should, you can email me at richardsgamereviews@yahoo.com and let me know, so I can fix things as soon as possible. I really would appreciate that! However, an even better way to let me know, would be to post a comment on the game page. I don't always check my emails everyday, but I always check to see if I received any new comments each morning.

The following games were also down: Air Hockey, Ball Trap, Deluxe Pacman, Navy Battles, and Paradise Island Jigsaw Puzzle. I found new sources for all seven of these games and replaced the code. Also, for technical reasons I replaced the code for Flash Chess 3, another game that has been on my site for more than a year. Hopefully, everything is back to normal now. A very trying day... to say the least!

After about 3 weeks of having a live chatbox on my blog sidebar so everyone could chat with each other I decided, at least for the time being, to take it down. The response was underwhelming, to say the least. The response to the Heyzap game player has also been a disappointment, but I am going to leave that up because I still feel it adds value to my site.

This is Richard. I am sorry to say that the Heyzap game player was a total bust, and has long since been removed from my site.

I owe a huge apology to everyone who uses Firefox to view my site. I made some changes recently, and I didn't check the Firefox browser to see how it may be affected. (I am so used to using Internet Explorer that I forget sometimes to check out the changes on Firefox). The game pages were not affected (at least that was good). But the category pages were unreadable. I found the problem and made the necessary correction. Hopefully, I learned a valuable lesson and I will remember to always check Firefox as well as Internet Explorer when I make future changes. Again, my sincere apologies.

I am just republished the Word Sailing game. Originally, I published Word Sailing back on September 21. It worked for a few days, and then stopped working. So, I had to remove the published page from my site. I kept a draft of the game and I checked just about every single day to see if it was back working. Well, after not working for more than a month it is back to working again. So, let's all keep our fingers crossed that the problem is permanently solved.

Good news! The dermatologist office just called, and my latest 4 biopsies are all clear. Here is a little background information. Several years ago I went to the dermatologist for an unrelated problem and he decided, while I was in the office, to check my moles... something that had not even occurred to me to have done. He immediately spotted two moles that he told me would have likely developed into skin cancer. Luckily, those two came back clear too. He advised me to come back once a year, to have my moles examined, which is now something I do diligently every October or November. You should do the same. Visit your dermatologist at least once a year (or more often, if they recommend it) and have your skin examined. It only takes a few minutes, and it could very well save your life!

I revised my footer once again. The fourth column no longer lists the game categories. (You can still check the game categories at the top of the page. Just use my scroll list on the right sidebar). The fourth column will now be used to list more games. Not only does this look better, but it is more functional too. Also, I want to take this opportunity to wish everyone in the U.S.A. a happy Thanksgiving!

This is Richard. Richard's Game Reviews has been compeletely redesigned since this post was written. I no longer use footer columns. I do still have the Game Categories in a scroll bar on the sidebar, but it is no longer at the top of the page. It is now closer toward the middle of the page.

Halloween Tripeaks

Game Description: Reveal the haunted castle of Frankenstein and his Witch bride by clearing all the cards in this spooky solitaire treat.

How to Play Halloween Tripeaks:
  • Halloween Tripeaks is a card game played with a standard deck of 52 cards. In addition, there is also 1 'Wild Card' (which is not actually part of the deck).
  • Each round begins with 18 cards dealt face down and 10 cards dealt face up. (These 28 cards form the field). There is also 1 card dealt face up at the bottom. This card is the first card in the discard pile. The remaing 23 cards form the deck and are dealt face down.
  • The goal is to move all 28 cards from the field unto the discard pile, before the deck runs out of cards, to make it to the next round.
  • Only face up cards from the field can be moved to the discard pile.
  • Face down field cards cannot be moved. (Face down field cards will automatically turn face up as soon as all face up cards on top of them are removed).
  • Any face up card from the field that is either one rank lower or higher than the top card of the discard pile can be moved regardless of suit. For instance, if the top card on the discard pile shows a 7, any 6 or 8 may be played unto the discard pile. (To move a card from the field simply click on the card you wish to move. If the card is eligible to be moved it will automatically move to the discard pile. Should you make a mistake, and the card is ineligible to be moved, nothing will happen and you will simply need to choose a different card).
  • Aces may be moved unto a King, and a King may be moved unto an Ace.
  • Try to build sequences both up and down. For instance: 9, 10, J, Q, K, Q, K, A, 2, 3, 4, 3. The longer the sequence, the more you score!
  • When you cannot move any cards from the field onto the discard pile, click the 'Next Card' button or click the 'Wild Card'.
  • Clicking the 'Next Card' button takes the top card from the deck and places it face up on top of the discard pile.
  • The 'Wild Card' isn't actually part of the deck. It is simply a card that has the words 'Wild Card' written on it. When you click on the 'Wild Card' it will automatically move to the top of the discard pile. You may play any face up card from the field unto the 'Wild Card.' The 'Wild Card' may only be used once per round.
  • Click the 'Undo' button to undo your very last move. (The 'Undo' button only allows you to go back one move. You cannot go back more than that). You may use the 'Undo' button as often as you wish. You will lose some points each time you use 'Undo'.
  • If you are able to remove all cards from the field you win, and you go on to the next round.
  • Time Bonus. Receive bonus points for successfully completing a round before the Time Bonus (displayed at the lower left corner) gets down to zero.
  • Wild Card Bonus. Receive 5000 bonus points for successfully completing a round without using the Wild Card.
  • Deck Card Bonus. Receive 1000 bonus points for each card that remains in the deck when you successfully complete a round.
  • Round Number Bonus. Receive extra bonus points for the Round Number Bonus. (I am not sure how this bonus works. If you are able figure out how this bonus works, please post a comment below so everyone will know).
  • The game ends when you fail to clear all 28 cards from the field.
  • When the game ends, click the 'Menu' button at the bottom of the 'Game Over' screen to play again.

Halloween Tripeaks Game Options:
  • The game may be paused by clicking the 'Menu' button located at the upper left corner of the game screen. Click the 'Resume' button to continue.
  • The game sounds may be turned on or off by clicking the microphone icon located just below the 'Menu' button near the upper left corner.

Halloween Tripeaks Playing Tips:
  • Make sure you don't miss any moves during a sequence by simply overlooking a move.
  • As in all tripeaks solitaire games the order in which you play your cards very often determines the length of a sequence. So, play your cards wisely.
  • When you have the choice, always play the card that will reveal other face down cards. For instance, let's say you have the choice of playing two different tens. Removing one ten will uncover other face down cards (which will automatically turn face up when you play the ten on top) but the other ten has no cards underneath it. You will want to play the ten that has cards underneath it because this puts more cards in play, and gives you extra opportunities to remove more cards from the field.
  • Don't be afraid to use the 'Undo' button. If you think using the 'Undo' button will help, go ahead and use it as much as you need. Although using the 'Undo' button will cost you a few points, it is better to lose a few points rather than losing the entire game.
  • When you use your 'Wild Card' very often determines whether or not you will win a round. As you gain experience, you will get a better sense of when to play your 'Wild Card'.
  • When the last card is dealt from the deck the game will ask you to 'Take Points.' Do not take the points until you have played things out. Sometimes you may have plays remaining and can actually win the round! And even if you can't win, you will still want to earn any extra points you can by playing any of the remaining cards. So, always play everything out completely before you click on 'Take Points.'

Richard's Rating: 3 out of 5.

Comments: Halloween Tripeaks is a nice version of the popular game of tripeaks solitaire with fun Halloween graphics.

Pathians

Game Description: Create chains to remove all cards from the board.

How to Play Pathians:
  • A chain consists of 2 or more matching cards. (A single card by itself cannot be a chain).
  • Click on any card to start a chain.
  • Click on any neighboring card that is the same rank, or one rank higher or lower. (For instance, if the card is a 6, any 5, 6, or 7 may be clicked next).
  • Aces and Kings may be matched with each other.
  • Jokers are wild and can be matched with any card.
  • Once you begin a chain, Pathians will force you to keep building your chain until there are no more possible moves.
  • When you complete a chain the cards in your chain will be destroyed in a blazing fireball! All cards above will drop down to take the place of any cards removed.
  • When a column has only one remaining card, (and it cannot be matched with any card from a neighboring column), that card may be moved to the top of any other column. To move the last remaining card in a column first click on the card. Then, click on the blank space to where you want to move it.
  • Your goal is to figure out how to remove all of the cards from the board and reach the next level.
  • If you fail to remove all cards from the board... it's game over!
  • When the game is over, to play again, click the 'Continue" button (right below where you see the text that says: Share my Score! facebook. Then, on the next screen click 'Continue' again.
  • I am not sure how many levels Pathians has but at some point you are supposed to be able to free the Princess from the tower (although personally, I have not progressed that far in the game). If anyone knows how many levels there are, or how to free the Princess, please post your comment below and let everyone know.

Pathians Playing Tips:
  • As you start each round, look for the cards that you think are going to be the toughest to remove and begin to plan your strategy.
  • When you have a card that seems isolated, that is, there are no cards around it with the same rank or one rank higher or lower, there are three ways to remove it. The first way would be to get the card to drop into a more advantageous position by first removing cards in the same column below it. The second way would be to remove all other cards in its column. This may give you the opportunity to move the card to the top of any other column. The third way would be to move a card from another column next to it.
  • You need to control things as much as possible. Keep in mind Pathians forces you to complete each chain. Because of this, it often it a critical decision deciding which end of the chain you start should from. You will understand this after you play the game a little.
  • Watch out for Jokers! They can help you. But if you don't think things through, they can also hurt you because you may be forced to make moves you don't want to make (and didn't anticipate).
  • Be careful! Once you click on a card, you cannot change your mind. Pathians will force you to make a move if any move is possible.
  • As you hover your mouse over each card, pay attention. A card that currently can be matched with a card next to it will show a glowing yellow border. (Also a card that is the last remaining card in a column will always have a glowing yellow border because it will either have a match with an adjacent column or, if not, it is eligible to be moved). A card that currently has no match will not have this border when you hover.
  • Remember, a chain must be at least 2 cards or more. You cannot end up with a single card (even if it is a Joker). If you do... you lose!

Richard's Rating: 4 out of 5.

Pro: I almost passed on this marvelous little gem of a game. I tried playing Pathians for about 5 minutes and I really didn't have any idea about what was going on. (The game's instructions are somewhat brief). I am certainly glad I stuck with it. Play this game for about 15 to 20 minutes and you, too, will come to realize what a wonderful strategic game this truly is!

Con: There seems to be no control (at least none that I can see) to adjust or turn off the game sounds. However, this really isn't a problem because the game is on the quiet side anyway.

4 Wheel Madness

Game Description: 4 Wheel Madness is a car racing game where you must drive your monster truck as fast as you can across stones and other cars. Complete the track without crashing to complete each level.

How to Play 4 Wheel Madness:
  • Use your 4 arrow keys to control your monster truck.
  • The up arrow moves the truck forward.
  • The down arrow moves the truck backwards.
  • The right arrow leans the truck forward.
  • The left arrow leans the truck backwards.
  • Your Health meter is displayed at the upper left on the game screen. Some collisions will lower your health. (Hint: When you see sparks, your health will go down).
  • Your level progress is displayed at the upper right on the game screen. The Progress meter shows you how much of the level is completed.
  • Collect green dollars for money.
  • Watch out for red dollars. If you collect them your money will go down.
  • Watch out for bombs. If you hit one, your health will go down.
  • Pick up reparation items (they sort of look like wrenches) to increase your health!
  • Complete the track without crashing (while maintaing some health) to advance to the next level.
  • If you crash (or if your health is entirely depleted)... it's game over!

4 Wheel Madness Game Options:
  • The sounds may be turned on or off by clicking the microphone icon located at the upper left corner of the game screen.
  • You may pause the game by clicking the pause icon located at the upper right corner of the game screen. To resume, click the icon again.

4 Wheel Madness Playing Tips:
  • The trick, of course, is to drive at the right speed and figure out when to lean forward or backwards.

Richard's Rating: 4 out of 5.

Comments: The best thing about 4 Wheel Madness are the outstanding sounds and graphics. If you are a regular reader of Richard's Game Reviews, you know how hopeless I am when it comes to driving games. But, I do enjoy watching the tires come off when I crash! By the way, I have no idea why you should collect the green dollar signs. I am not sure how this helps. If anyone has an explanation please post your comment below. Thanks... Richard.

Match 3 Easter

Game Description: Make enough matches to keep the clock going for as long as possible.

How to Play Match 3 Easter:
  • Click the 'Play' button.
  • Use your left mouse button.
  • Click on 2 adjacent pieces to attempt to swap their positions.
  • The pieces will only swap if there is a resulting match of 3 or more in-a-row horizontally or vertically.
  • Matched pieces will be removed, and the pieces above will drop down to take their place.
  • You begin the game with 30 seconds. (You can see the time left at the bottom of the game).
  • Time is put back on the clock each time you make a match of 3 or more.
  • The longer you can keep the game going and the more matches you make, the higher you will score!
  • The game ends when the time gets down to zero or when you run out of moves.

Match 3 Easter Game Options:
  • The graphics may be set to Low, Medium, or High by clicking on the Graphic buttons at the bottom of the initial game screen.
  • After you click the 'Play' button to begin the game, the game sounds may be turned on or off by clicking the 'Sound' button on the right side of the game.

Match 3 Easter Playing Tips:
  • Look for multiple matches. That is, by swapping two pieces you create two matches instead of just one. (Each match you make adds time to the clock, so multiple matches add more time than a single match does).
  • Try to make a lot of matches near the bottom of the game. This will give you a greater likelihood of creating multiple matches with a single move because more pieces will drop down than with matches that are made at, or near, the top. I don't mean to suggest that you should ignore matches at the top, but just be aware that more matches made near the bottom may increase your chances of adding more time to the clock.
  • If you are an experienced Match 3 player, you will be able to dictate where the pieces will fall. So, you can make a match and set up the next match at the same time. This can be important because, remember, the game will be over if you run out of moves. If you are inexperienced, you will learn this with practice.
  • Pick up the pace. Try to make your first match within about 3 seconds after the game begins. (The very first time I played Match 3 Easter I was surprised at how fast 30 seconds can be. By the time I played my second game, I was ready for the quick pace).

Richard's Rating: 2 out of 5.

Pro: Match 3 Easter can be rather fun especially when the clock gets down to about 10 seconds and you start making multiple matches (some intentional, and some unintentional) and watch the clock power back up to about 30 seconds again.

Age Of War 2

Game Description: Age of War 2 is a mix of offense, defense, and a strategy game. The goal is to destroy the enemy base while defending yours. You can build turrets to defend your base, and build units to attack the enemy's. The twist of the game is that you can evolve to a more modern age as well, to unlock new units and defensive means. The more you evolve, the more powerful you will become!

How to Play Age Of War 2:
  • Age Of War 2 only requires you to use your left mouse button. You will not need to use your keyboard at anytime.
  • After the game fully loads, click the 'Play' button.
  • On the next screen, click the 'Start Game' button.
  • Choose your difficulty level: 'Easy', 'Medium', or 'Hard'.
  • There are three important parts in the game screen: the HUD, the Battlefield, and your Gold and Xp.
  • The HUD is at the top of the game screen and is always completely visible even when you change your view of the Battlefield.
  • The Battlefield is below the HUD and takes up the majority of the game screen. Here is where all the action takes place.
  • Your home base is on the left. The computer's home base is on the right. The Battlefield lies between both bases.
  • Your Gold and Xp are always visible at the lower right of the game screen.
  • You cannot see the entire Battlefield, nor can you see both home bases, at the same time. However, Age Of War 2 makes it easy to view what you want. As you move your mouse to the left or right your view changes accordingly.
  • The HUD is where you will find all of the game controls. The HUD is divided into 4 categories: Units, Turrets, Specials, and Upgrades. See Figure 1 below.

The HUD

Figure 1

  • You buy Units, Turrets, and Upgrades with your Gold.
  • You buy Specials with your Xp.
  • Units -- Units are your army. Your Units march left to right toward the computer's home base. The computer's Units march right to left toward your home base. Where the two armies meet is where the battle takes place. Move your mouse over a Unit to see a short description and to see how much Gold it costs. Click on a Unit to buy it. If you have enough Gold, the game will allow you to purchase the Unit and deduct that amount from your Gold total. You will see the Unit immediately come out of your home base (assuming your home base is in view). You may purchase as many Units as you need as long as you have enough Gold. At first, some Units may be locked. You can unlock these Units later with Upgrades.
  • Turrets -- Turrets help protect your home base. Think of them as guns that sit on towers. Move your mouse over the Turret icons to see a short description and to see how much gold it will cost. Before you buy a Turret you must first buy a tower to place it on. (The tower is the green icon in the Turrets section). You can build up to 4 towers. As you do, they will stack one on top of the other. When building a Turret, you will need to have a free tower. That is, one without a Turret. However, you can sell a Turret at half the price you paid for it and then replace it with a better one. Just click on the sell Turret button which is the last Turret icon located at the right (the red icon with the $ sign on it). Then, click on the Turret you want to sell. Sometimes you will need to click on your base to build or sell Turrets. (Go back to your base and click where it says 'Build.'). As with Units, you can only buy towers and Turrets if you have enough Gold.
  • Specials -- Specials let you do two things: Launch a special attack or evolve to a new age. You buy Specials with your Xp. Move your mouse over the Specials anytime, to see how much each will cost.
  • The game is divided into 7 ages: Caveman, Spartan, Egyptian, Medieval, Renaissance, Modern, and Futuristic.
  • Upgrades -- Upgrades are very important. You can upgrade your Units and make them more powerful. Be sure to spend some of your Gold on these. Most Upgrades can be upgraded up to three times: Level 1, 2, and 3. Move your mouse over each Upgrade to see what it does and how much Gold it will cost.
  • You automatically earn additional Gold and Xp through combat. Remember, your Gold and Xp are always displayed at the lower right corner of the screen.
  • As you are buying more Units to attack, towers and Turrets to defend, and Upgrading, and evolving, the computer will be doing the same.
  • Watch both your and the computers Base Health meter. Yours is on the left bottom corner of the screen. The computers is located at the lower right bottom. These Health meters indicate the health of each home base.
  • Whoever destroys the others home base first wins the game!
  • Click the 'Return' button to play again.

Age Of War 2 Game Options: All game options can be accessed by clicking the 'Options' button located at the lower left corner of the game screen. (I would recommend not changing the 'Quality', 'Frames per Second', or the 'Show Damage' options unless you are having a problem). The options are:
  • 'Quality' may be set to High, Medium, or Low.
  • 'Frames per Second' is set to 150 by default. This can be changed ranging from 25 to 300.
  • The 'Sound' can be set from 100% down to 0%
  • The 'Music' can be set from 100% down to 0%
  • The 'Show Damage' is set to OFF by default. Again, I would not recommend changing this to ON because there is a warning that says "Showing damage can cause lag." So, it is probably wise to just leave it OFF.

Age Of War 2 Playing Tips:
  • Start at the 'Easy' difficulity level until you learn the game. Then, play at the 'Normal' or 'Hard' levels as you gain experience.
  • Obviously, the first thing you will do is to buy some Units. Do this immediately as soon as the game begins. This way the first battle will take place near the middle of the battlefield and not at your front door. (The first time I played Age Of War 2 I didn't understand anything, or even know where the controls were located. About time I figured things out, the computer's Units were already attacking my base).
  • Don't go overboard in buying towers and Turrets. Yes, they are important. But remember, offense is just as important, and sometimes maybe even more important than defense.
  • One of my favorite Upgrades to buy is the Upgrade on the lower row, the first one on the left. This upgrade, named the Income Level, allows you to get more money from killed enemy Units. I try to upgrade this to the maximum 3 times allowed as soon as I can. This helps you earn more Gold quickly, allowing you to buy even more of the things you need.
  • Pay attention to the very first Upgrade, the first one on the left on the top row. On some ages you will need to click that Upgrade to unlock some of the Units. For instance, on the Caveman age this unlocks the Dino Hut Unit. (After you unlock it, you will still have to buy it from the Units area).
  • Here is the most important tip I can give you. Although the special attack is very powerful it costs a lot of Xp. You will be better off if you can save your Xp to evolve into the next age before the computer does. Evolving is very important! If you evolve before the computer, you have the advantage. If the computer evolves first, then the computer has the advantage. Think of it this way. If the computer has evolved into the Modern age and you are still at the Caveman age here is what is going to happen. You will be fighting with clubs and the computer will be fighting with tanks. Who do you think will win? (I would say this. Use your Xp for a special attack if it is your only way to save your home base and stay in the game. Otherwise, save your Xp to evolve).
  • Here is one final tip. Don't let my long review scare you away. I learned the game in about 20 minutes with absolutely no explanation whatsoever. In other words, I had to figure out everything for myself. I write these reviews to make things easier for my readers, but sometimes I wonder when the review is long if people assume the game is difficult to learn. A long review does not mean a game is hard to learn, it simply means there is a lot to explain. (Or, maybe I am just long-winded? Take your pick! lol.)

Pro: Age of War 2 is absolutely incredible! It has fantastic graphics and sounds. The music is dynamic and powerful. The game is exciting and fun. What more could you want?

Con: The game has a big file and may load slow. Be patient. Believe me. It is definitely worth the wait!

Marine Life Picture Matching

Game Description: Try to clear the entire board before time runs out by matching identical pictures.

How to Play Marine Life Picture Matching:
  • Click on a picture. Then, click on its identical pair.
  • If there is a clear path between the matching pictures, Marine Life Picture Matching will draw a line connecting the two pictures and they will be removed from the board.
  • If there is no clear path between the two matching pictures, the pictures will not be removed. You will first have to remove other pictures that are blocking the way. Then, try again.
  • Your goal is to remove all pictures from the board before time runs out to advance to the next level.
  • The time is shown at the top of the game. It starts at 100 seconds and counts down to zero. The time remaining is also depicted by the blue bar at the top which moves right to left.
  • Each time you make a match, 2 seconds are put back on the clock! (However, the total time remaining can never exceed 100 seconds).
  • You begin the game with 3 lives. (Your lives are displayed at the top of the game and are signified by the number just to the right of the red heart and the green X).
  • Earn time you successfully complete a level you gain 2 extra lives.
  • You may reshuffle the pieces by clicking the shuffle button but this will cost you 2 lives. (The shuffle button is the icon just to the left of the 'pause' button at the top of the game. It has a blue and pink arrow pointing in opposite directions. Note: the shuffle button only rearranges the pictures. It does not reset the time).
  • You may click the hour-glass icon just to the left of the shuffle button. This will reset the timer all the way back to 100, but it will cost you 1 life each time you click it.
  • You may click the magnifying glass icon. This will show you a match. But, it will cost you 1 life. (Hint: Never use the magnifying glass icon. Simply showing you a match is not worth losing a life).
  • You can pause the game by clicking the 'pause' button which is also located at the top of the game. To resume, click the 'pause' button again.
  • The game ends instantly when the time gets down to zero on any level (even if you have lives remaining).
  • There are 16 challenging levels of play.

Marine Life Picture Matching Game Options:
  • To turn the music on or off, click the green microphone icon located just below the upper right corner of the game screen.
Marine Life Picture Matching Playing Tips:
  • Look for matches along the outside borders. Any 2 identical pictures that are on the same border can usually be matched. For instance, if both pictures are on either the top, right side, bottom, or left side border they can usually be matched. It is also sometimes possible to match identical pictures when they are on adjacent borders. In other words, you can sometimes match around one corner, but not two. This means a picture that is on the top or bottom border can sometimes be matched if its identical pair is on one of the side borders. However, if one picture is on the top border and its pair is on the bottom border it probably cannot be matched because you would have to go around two corners. (Later when you remove enough pictures from the interior you can, of course, make a direct connection). The same thing would apply to two identical pictures should one be located on the left border and its pair located on the right border.
  • Sometimes, you have to work from the interior. As you make matches in the interior you must try to create enough matches to create a hole in the interior. As the hole becomes larger, more matches become possible.
  • Any 2 identical pictures that are side-by-side (either horizontally or vertically) may be matched.
  • Never use the magnifying glass icon. Simply showing you a match is not worth losing a life.
  • In certain situations using the shuffle button can be, perhaps, the only way to win a level. But remember. It costs you 2 lives and it does not reset the time.
  • Remember, on any level, the game ends instantly should the time get down to zero. So, use the hour glass button to extend the game.

Sneaky's Road Trip San Francisco

Game Description: Sneaky, the Super Spy Guy, is going across country. This time he has made his way out west and is in San Francisco. There are 145 hidden items that need to be found. Help Sneaky find all 145 hidden items, or as many as you can. Use your magnifying glass to take a closer look!

How to Play Sneaky's Road Trip San Francisco:
  • All of the items you must find are listed on the left side of each game screen. The first level has 25 hidden items to find. The other four levels have 30 items each.
  • Click on the magnifying glass to turn it on or off. You can use the magnifying glass at any time.
  • When you find an item, click on it with your left mouse button.
  • Try not to click anything other than items or you will be penalized 5 seconds.
  • The more items you can find, and the faster you can find them, the higher you will score!
  • Click the 'Pause' button at any time to take a break and rest your eyes. To resume, click the 'Play' button.
  • Once you find all of the items you will automatically move on to the next level of play. (Should you be unable to find every item you may click the 'Skip' button to move to the next level. However, once you click 'Skip' you cannot go back).
  • There are 5 fun-filled levels of play.

Sneaky's Road Trip San Francisco Playing Tips:
  • Don't forget to search near the edges of each picture. Sometimes, the hidden items are there.
  • Hint: On picture number 1 you will find four of the white doves in the trees (1 on the left side of the street, the other 3 on the right). The fifth dove can be found near the lower right corner of the big cable car in the foreground.

Sneaky's Road Trip San Francisco Walkthrough: If you would like to see the complete solution to all five levels of Sneaky's Road Trip San Francisco, I have the links right here. I suggest, if you get stuck, to go ahead and just take a quick peek. Then, try to solve each picture on your own. Later, if you should need more help, you can always go back and take another look.

Pro: Sneaky's Road Trip San Francisco is yet another terrific addition to the marvelous Sneaky's Road Trip series of games. I think this one is harder than most of the others. As always, the white doves and the black dollar signs are the toughest items for me to find, and probably for you too. Yes, it is quite challenging to find every item... and very fun too. Enjoy!

Con:
  • There is no control (at least that I can find) that allows you to turn off the background music or sound effects. So, you will need to adjust your speakers accordingly.
  • Did you notice when you pause the game it says "Sneaky's Road Trip Las Vegas Paused!" instead of San Francisco? I don't intend that to be a criticism. I just think that it is an amusing observation, don't you?
