Game Description: Welcome to Sudoku, the classic Japanese number game that'll have you puzzling for hours.
How to Play Sudoku Challenge:
- Sudoku is played on a 9x9 grid made up of 3x3 sub grids, starting with various digits given in some cells.
- In this particular version of Sudoku, Sudoku Challenge, the given digits are contained on red squares.
- Red squares, that is given digits, are already in their correct positons and cannot be moved.
- At the right you will see a column of digits from 1 to 9 on yellow squares.
- Yellow squares, containing a digit from 1 to 9, can be dragged onto and off of the grid at any time.
- Your goal is to fill in the grid so that every row, every column, and every 3x3 box contains the digits 1 through 9 without repetition.
- There is a clock on the left. The faster you can solve the puzzle, the higher you will score.
- Click the 'Reset Board' button to begin the same puzzle over again. This will remove all of the yellow squares you have placed on the grid. It will also reset the clock back to zero.
- Each puzzle has one, and only one, solution.
- Click the 'Give Up' button to resign. After you close the scoreboard, the game will reload and you may play again starting with a different puzzle.
- Once you find the solution to the puzzle, Sudoku Challenge will show a congratulations message and give you your score. You may either submit your score, or click 'No Thanks' when the game asks you to submit your score. After the game reloads, you may play again.
Sudoku Challenge Playing Tips:
- Try to place numbers in positions that you are 100% certain are correct. If you are less than 100% certain, don't insert the number. Wait until you get more information. The reason is, if you should place a number in an incorrect postion that will almost always cause you to make even more wrong assumptions and invariably lead to even more mistakes. Eventually, you will either have to give up or undo all of your mistakes. So, definitely try not to make that first crucial mistake that will lead you down the wrong path.

Comments: What determines the difficulty of Sudoku puzzles is the amount of given numbers that are already filled in for the user, and their relative location to one another. While I have seen some Sudoku puzzles that are impossibly hard and others that are extremely easy, especially in printed versions, Sudoku Challenge does not seem to fall into either extreme. For me, I do find the puzzles presented by Sudoku Challenge to be very challenging, but definitely winnable, at least once in a while. (Although, just between you and me, I do admit that most of the time I do run out of patience, and I end up giving up). If you are already a Sudoku fan, Sudoku Challenge should quickly become one of your favorite games to play. If you are brand new to Sudoku, Sudoku Challenge may be a nice vehicle to learn the game though you may also want to find an easier version someplace else online.
