Beleaguered Castle Solitaire

Game Description: In Beleaguered Castle Solitaire all 52 cards are dealt face up. The 4 aces are dealt to the middle column, and are the foundations. The remaining 48 cards form the tableau, and are dealt in overlapping style in eight rows of six cards each. The object is to move all of the cards from the tableau, to the 4 foundation piles, building each foundation by suit and in sequence from Ace to king.

How to Play Beleaguered Castle Solitaire:
  • Once the game fully loads, click the 'Start' button.
  • On the next screen you see, click 'Start' once again.
  • Beleaguered Castle Solitaire is a card game played with a standard deck of 52 cards.
  • Each game begins with all 52 cards dealt face up. The four aces are dealt to the middle column, and are the foundation piles. The remaining 48 cards are dealt in overlapping style in eight rows of six cards each, with four rows to the right, and four rows to the left, of the foundation piles. Those 48 cards are the tableau piles.
  • The rank of cards is the usual rank of A, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, J, Q, and K.
  • The foundation piles must be built up in suit and by sequence. Example: Ace of Spades, 2 of Spades, 3 of Spades, and so forth.
  • The only moveable cards are the outermost card on each tableau row. (To move a card, simply drag it with your mouse, and release).
  • A card may be moved onto the outer end of a different row, provided that it is one rank lower than the card already there regardless of suit. For example: Any 6 may be placed on any 7.
  • Any moveable card may be placed in an empty space (that is, in any row with no cards).
  • Your goal is to move all 48 tableau cards onto the foundation piles.
  • Score 500 points for each card that you place on a foundation.
  • A winning score is 24000 points (48 x 500).

Beleaguered Castle Solitaire Game Options: The game options may be accessed by clicking the object that sort of looks like a gear shaft; located just to the right of the question mark near the lower right corner of the game. The game options are as follows:
  • The game sounds may be adjusted from low to high.
  • The music volume may be adjusted from low to high.
  • Full Screen may be turned On or Off. (Yes, you may play Beleaguered Castle Solitaire in Full Screen mode!)

Beleaguered Castle Solitaire Playing Tips:
  • The best strategy, it seems to me, is to first remove all cards from one row if you can. This creates an empty space, and will give you some flexibility. Once you accomplish that, you should try to create a second empty space. Now, you have even greater flexibility. Things may still be difficult, but you now have a good chance at winning!

Pro: Beleaguered Castle Solitaire is a fun game of strategy. It is difficult, but certainly not impossible to win.

Con: I am convinced that some hands are simply not winnable. Of course, if you get an impossible hand, you can always click the 'Give Up' button and begin again.

In Stay Yellow you are a little yellow blockhead and you want to stay that way for as long as you can! With Bloons 2 you will need to think, and use your imagination, to figure out how to pop enough bloons to make it to the next level of play. There is also DropSum Colours, which is actually two different games where you will need to destroy the colored tiles by clicking on groups of at least two or more. Rainbow Web

Game Description: Release the evil Spider's web and restore the Rainbow Kingdom to its former glory. Swap neighboring beads to make a line of 3 or more matching beads. This line may be horizontal or vertical. Collect all letters from the web to make up a magic phrase and break the spell. This lets you continue your adventure. There are 5 levels of play. Each time you play, the game will be different!

How to Play Rainbow Web:
  • After the game fully loads, click the 'Play' button.
  • On the next screen that comes up, click 'Play' again.
  • Use your mouse to swap 2 neighboring beads to make a line of 3 or more matching beads. This line may be horizontal or vertical.
  • If you take too long to make a match, Rainbow Web will show you a move you can make. This move, of course, is merely a suggestion. You can take it, or leave it.
  • Some beads have a letter inside of them.
  • Collect all letters by placing a bead with a letter in line with 3 or more beads of the same color.
  • You begin the game with 3 lives. (Your lives are shown at the right side below the level number).
  • The timer is the iguana's tongue located at the lower left corner. Time is up when the iguana's tongue completely recoils and disappears into the iguana's mouth.
  • Your goal is to collect all letters to spell the magic word, or phrase, at the upper right corner before time runs out. If you do, you go on to the next web.
  • Finish quickly to earn extra bonus points.
  • If time runs out before you spell the magic word, or phrase, you lose 1 life.
  • After you complete a level you may occasionally see a screen where you are invited to download the game. If you only wish to play for free, simply click the 'Play' button to continue your free game.
  • This free demo version of Rainbow Web has 5 levels of play.
  • Each time you replay the game, the game will play differently.

Christmas Sorter

Game Description: Each level begins with some christmas ornaments inside a grid, and other ornaments moving on a conveyer belt from left to right at the top of the screen. Your task is to click on the moving ornaments at the top, and get them to drop into the grid where they can be matched with two or more like-colored oranments forming a set of 3 or more. When you make enough matches, the Christmas tree on the left will begin to fill with ornaments. Once the Christmas tree is filled with ornaments, and gets a star on top, you win the level! But, be careful. If any ornament in the grid crosses the line at the top, you lose. There are 20 levels of play, and each level is faster and harder. Good luck!

How to Play Christmas Sorter:
  • Once the game fully loads, either click the 'Start' button, or click the 'Skip Level' button to find the level you would like to start on. (If this is your first time playing Christmas Sorter, I recommend that you begin with Level 1. Then, progress through the levels naturally. Of course if you have played the game before, then you will know which level you will want to begin with).
  • Each level begins with some christmas ornaments inside a grid, and other ornaments moving on a conveyer belt from left to right at the top of the screen.
  • Your job is to click on the moving ornaments at the top and get them to drop into the grid where they can be matched with two or more like-colored oranments.
  • When you make a match of 3 or more like-colored ornaments, those oranments will disappear from the screen and earn you points.
  • Any ornaments that get all the way to the right will fall off of the conveyer belt and drop down the right side of the screen and then move to the left and begin forming a line of ornaments below the gird.
  • When the line of ornaments below the grid fills up completely, those oranments will move up into the grid itself, forming a new bottom row and pushing the other grid ornaments up higher towards the top.
  • Be careful. If any ornament in the grid crosses the line at the top, you lose the level.
  • When you make enough matches the Christmas tree on the left will begin to fill with ornaments. Once the Christmas tree is filled with ornaments, and gets a star on top, you win the level!
  • Christmas Sorter has 20 levels of play. Each level is faster and harder. Because the game allows you to skip levels anytime you wish, you may play any level you want at any time.

Magic Puzzle - Harry Potter

Game Description: Rearrange the pieces of each puzzle to show your favorite Harry Potter characters including, among others: Albus Dumbledore, the beloved headmaster at Hogwarts; potions professor, Severus Snape; Alastor 'Mad-Eye' Moody; Draco Malfoy, Harry's chief rival at Hogwarts; Harry's two best friends, Ron Weasley and Hermione Granger; and of course, Harry himself. There are nine jigsaws in all.

How to Play Magic Puzzle - Harry Potter:
  • As the game begins to load, you will see some text that says 'The game is loading now...' Below this text there will be a blue line with the word 'Continue' underneath. Once you see the word 'Continue' below the blue line, this tells you that the game is fully loaded and ready to be played. You must click the word 'Continue'. That will make the game start.
  • After you click the word 'Continue', on the next screen, click the 'Play' button.
  • You will now see the pictures of nine different jigsaw puzzles. Simply click the puzzle you want to play.
  • To begin play, click the 'Start' button near the upper left corner.
  • The jigsaw pieces are scattered below the picture near the bottom of the game screen.
  • Move each piece by first clicking on it with your mouse, and then drag it. Click it a second time to release it, or to drop it into place.
  • Rotate a puzzle piece with your spacebar.
  • When you have positioned a piece correctly it will stay in place, and you will hear a sound effect (that is assuming, of course, that you have left the game sounds turned on).
  • Should you place a piece incorrectly, it will float back down to the bottom.
  • Use the 'Reset' button to begin a puzzle over again.
  • Click the 'Back' button to take you back to the main menu screen.

Magic Puzzle - Harry Potter Game Options:
  • The game sounds may be turned on or off by clicking the microphone icon located at the upper right corner.

Magic Puzzle - Harry Potter Playing Tips:
  • Use the background picture and shapes as your guide.
  • You can tell where you still need to place a puzzle piece because that area of the picture will be blurred out.

Comments: Although jigsaw puzzles have never been very popular on my site, Magic Puzzle - Harry Potter is far more entertaining than your average jigsaw. With enchanting music, some great pictures of your favorite Harry Potter characters, and a rather nice special effect of having the puzzle pieces 'float' back to the bottom when you make a mistake, hopefully this game will at least get a little action, and a decent amount of pageviews. Also, even though each puzzle has only 30 pieces, for a 30 piece puzzle I think they are quite challenging.

Stay Yellow

Game Description: You're a little yellow blockhead and you want to stay that way. Avoid the other blockheads who will splatter you with their color. Collect the jars of paint to restore your yellow color. Collect the jars of molasses to slow the other blockheads down for a little while. Avoid the Boss at all costs. Stay Yellow for as long as you can!

How to Play Stay Yellow:
  • Once the game fully loads, click the 'Play' button.
  • You're a little yellow blockhead
  • You will control your yellow blockhead with mouse movement.
  • Avoid the other blockheads who will splatter you with their color.
  • Collect the jars of paint to restore your yellow color.
  • Collect the jars of molasses to slow the other blockheads down for a little while.
  • Pick up the shield (the shield looks like a bluish-green bubble) to make yourself invincible for a short period of time.
  • Avoid the Boss (the extra big blockhead) at all costs. Neither the shield or molasses affects him. (You will know when the boss is around because you will hear his distinctive music while he is on the screen).
  • You have 5 lives. Each life is represented by the 5 yellow blockheads at the upper right corner of the game screen.
  • Each time you get splattered, you lose 1 life.
  • Each time you collect a jar of yellow paint, you regain 1 life.
  • If you get splattered by the Boss, you immediately lose all of your lives and it's ... game over!
  • Stay Yellow for as long as you can.
  • The game ends when you lose your last life.

Stay Yellow Game Options:
  • The game sounds may be turned on or off by clicking the microphone icon located at the upper left corner of the game screen.

Mystery Hunter

Game Description: Search through the rooms of an ancient pyramid to find buried treasures. There are five levels (called rooms). The first room is named the 'Trial Room'. The 'Trial Room' is actually a built-in game tutorial which will show you how to use the four tools you will use to search for hidden items. The remaining rooms are the Hunting Room, the Dormancy Room, the Battle Room, and the Golden Room. Most rooms have more than one chamber through which you will have to search. To advance to the next room you must get all of the shapes into the pages of the 'Book of the Dead', and use the Hand tool to click on the door of the next room before the burning skull gets all the way to the left and you run out of time. Should you fail a level, you may repeat a level as many times as you need until you succeed. Good luck... and happy hunting!

How to Play Mystery Hunter:
  • Once the game loads, click the 'Start' button located in the lower right corner.
  • Mystery Hunter will first take you through a brief tutorial (named the 'Trial Room'). The tutorial will show you how to use the four tools: the Hand, the Brush, the Knife, and the Hoe (the tool that looks like an axe).
  • Your goal is to use these four tools to find all of the shapes that fit into the grooves in the 'Book of the Dead' before time is up.
  • The timer is the burning skull at the top of the game. When the skull, which moves from right to left, gets all the way to the left, time is up.
  • You must not only find all of the shapes, you must also collect them with the right tool. Each time you use the wrong tool you will be penalized with lost time, and the skull will briefly speed up.
  • Most rooms have more than one chamber through which you will have to search. To view all of the chambers, simply move your mouse left to view leftward and right to view rightward.
  • To advance to the next level you must get all of the shapes into the pages of the 'Book of the Dead'. (When you do, the shapes in the book will turn a gold color and flash, letting you know that your work is complete). You must also use the Hand tool to click on the door of the next room. If you can do both of these things before time runs out you will advance to the next level.
  • Should you fail a level you may repeat a level until you succeed.
  • In addition to the tutorial (the 'Trial Room') there are four additional rooms (levels). They are: the Hunting Room, the Dormancy Room, the Battle Room, and the Golden Room.

Mystery Hunter Game Options:
  • The music may be turned on or off by clicking the large musical note icon located at the upper right corner.

Mystery Hunter Playing Tips:
  • Playing Mystery Hunter is simply a matter of trial and error. Each time you try you will figure out a little more, until you can finally solve each room.

Game Description: Welcome to Wordstacks! The game where cards meet letters! For each game, 28 cards are dealt to 7 stacks, and 14 cards are dealt to the reserve. Each card has a letter on it, and a point value. The aim of this game is to create words out of the cards you're given by moving your cards between the stacks to get the highest score you possibly can. Longer words, and hard to use letters like F, H, J, K, Q, V, W, X, Y, and Z score more. Each time you play you will always get a new assortment of cards. So each game is different!

How to Play Wordstacks:
  • Once the game fully loads, click the 'Start Game' button.
  • For each game, there are 42 available cards. (Each game is different. So, you will always get a new assortment of cards).
  • 21 cards are dealt face up. (1 card is dealt face up to each of the 7 stacks, and 14 cards are dealt face up along the right side. Those 14 cards are your reserve. More about the reserve in a moment).
  • The remaining 21 cards are dealt face down and are hidden beneath the top cards of each stack, expect for the far right stack which has no cards beneath it.
  • Each card has a letter on it, and a point value.
  • All letters always have the same point value each time you play the game. For instance, each A=1.
  • Here are the point values for all 26 letters of the alphabet. A=1, B=3, C=2, D=2, E=1, F=4, G=3, H=4, I=1, J=8, K=5, L=1, M=3, N=1, O=1, P=3, Q=10, R=1, S=1, T=1, U=1, V=4, W=4 , X=8 , Y=4 and Z=10.
  • The aim of the game is to rearrange the cards to make words on the seven stacks (columns).
  • Cards are moved by dragging and dropping using the mouse.
  • A card that is face up can always be moved, but all cards stacked on top of it will be moved with it.
  • A card or group of cards can only be placed onto a stack if all the face up cards on the resulting stack make a word, or the start of a word.
  • The total score for a word is the card value of the word multiplied by the length of the word. For example, the word TOY has a card value of 1+1+4=6, with a length of 3, so it scores 18 points (6x3). Continuing this example, if we added an S to TOY we would now have the word TOYS. The word TOYS has a card value of 1+1+4+1=7, with a length of 4, so it scores 28 points (7x4).
  • The 14 cards in your reserve (at the right side) are available for use at any time. These cards don't have to be used to finish the game, but they can help you get out of a difficult situation, and allow you to make longer words for a higher score.
  • To use a reserve card you simply drag and drop it unto a stack. However, once a reserve card is placed unto a stack, it can never be moved back to the reserve.
  • If you have a card that you can't use and you want to throw it away, drag the card to the trash bin at the upper right corner.
  • You are allowed to dispose of up to five cards without penalty. Throwing away more results in a 10 point loss for each additional card you throw away.
  • Once a card has been discarded to the trash bin there is no way to return it to play, so be careful you don't throw away anything too important!
  • As you play the game, Wordstacks will keep track of your total score at the upper left corner. However only stacks that contain a complete word with a green background, and the score above the stack has turned white will count towards your final score. (In order for a stack to turn to a green background, not only do you need to have a compete word, but you must also clear away all of the cards that lie beneath the stack).
  • When all of the cards are face up and every stack is either empty, or contains a complete word, you will see a 'Well done!' message. If you are satisfied with your score, you can choose to end the game immediately by clicking the 'End Game' button at the bottom right. Your other choice is to keep playing, and try to impove your score by clicking the 'Continue' button at the bottom left. You may then continue to rearrange words in order to improve your score, by using cards from the reserve or combining shorter words into longer ones.

Wordstacks Playing Tips:
  • Form long words for big points!
  • To score even higher, try to use high scoring letters in your longest words when possible. This will really bump up your score fast!
  • Try not to dump too many letters. Remember, if you dump more than 5 letters you will be penalized 10 points for each additional letter you discard. Also, try not to dump high scoring letters. You will want to keep them, and use them in your words.
  • Remain flexible, and be open to new possibilities as new letters come into play. In other words don't become too fixated on making one certain word, because you may find something better.
  • If you are not sure that you can move a letter, or a group of letters, try moving them anyway. You may be surprised to find that Wordstacks will accept your move even though you may not know what word it is 'thinking' of. It won't do any harm to try, and if your move is accepted it can help you get out of a sticky situation.

Comments: Wordstacks proves something one and for all: You don't need a time limit, and you don't need any sound in order for a game to be great. Wordstacks is simply excellent in every respect. It is highly strategic, and exceedingly fun. If you enjoy word games, give Wordstacks a try. I promise, you won't be disappointed!

The Ace of Spades 3

Game Description: The Ace of Spades 3 is another fun version of tripeaks solitaire. The really cool thing about this version is that there are 45 different arrangements of cards, called boards. Some boards are easy and some are hard, so you never know what is coming next. This variety makes things interesting and keeps you on your toes. One other cool feature is the Ace of Spades card itself. You never know if, or when, it is going to show up and help you.

How to Play The Ace of Spades 3:
  • Once the game fully loads, click the 'continue' button directly under the game title.
  • On the next screen you see, click either 'Play Random Boards' or 'Choose a Starting Board.'
  • Choosing a Starting Board allows you to select your favorite board from among 45 different starting boards. (Use the slider button at the right side, to scroll down and see them all). After you play your starting board in round 1, the game will switch to random boards for any succeeding rounds. (The day I tested the Ace of Spades 3, I noticed something peculiar. When I begin the game with 'Choose a Starting Board', each time I got to round 3 the board cards would not display and I had to quit my game. I don't know if this is an actual glitch in the game, or if this was simply an oddity for that particular day. If this should happen to you, try starting a new game with 'Play Random Boards.' Doing that solved the problem for me).
  • Each round begins with a deal of 30 cards face down in the pack, 1 card face up immediately to the right of the pack (the discard pile) and various other cards, some face up and some face down, (the board).
  • The rank of cards is the usual rank of A, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, J, Q, and K.
  • You may play any face up card from the board, to the discard pile, if it is either one card higher, or one card lower in rank than the top card of the discard pile. For instance, if the discard pile shows a 7, any 6 or 8 may be played.
  • To play a card, you simply click on it.
  • Suits do not matter in tripeaks solitaire.
  • In tripeaks solitaire, Kings may be played on Aces, and Aces may be played on Kings. (This means that if the discard pile shows an Ace, any king or any two may be played. Similarly, if the discard pile shows a king, any ace or any queen may be played).
  • Try to build big sequences both up and down such as: 3, 2, A, K, Q, J, 10, J, Q, K, A, 2, 3, 4, 5, 4, 3 and so on. The order can be ascending, descending or both.
  • When you run out of moves from the board, click the pack. This will automatically overturn the top card from the pack and place that card face up on the discard pile and play begins again.
  • The bigger the sequence, the higher you’ll score. Example: 100, 200, 300, 400...
  • Score extra points, or earn extra cards for the pack, by playing the Ace of Spades card.
  • Receive 1000 bonus points for each card that remains in the pack when you successfully complete a round.
  • Your goal is to move all cards from the board to the discard pile before the pack runs out of cards. (Hint: You can always tell how many cards remain in the pack, because The Ace of Spades 3 will show you by displaying that number on the pack itself).
  • If you are able to move all of the cards from the board, to the discard pile, you win the round and the game continues.
  • The game ends whenever you fail to move all of the board cards to the discard pile.

The Ace of Spades 3 Playing Tips:
  • Face down cards on the board will be revealed when all cards on top of them are played. If you have a choice of cards to play, always play the card that will result in other face down cards being revealed. For instance, if you have two threes available to play and one of the threes has a hidden face down card underneath it and the other three has no card underneath it, select the one that has the card underneath it. The more cards you can get turned over the better.
  • Play the Ace of Spades when you have the chance to do so. Not only will this give you lots of extra points, sometimes you may receive bonus cards that go to the pack... giving you more chances to make moves and win the round.
  • As with all tripeaks solitarie games, it is the order in which you play your cards that will determine your success. As you gain experience, this will become more apparent.
  • The Ace of Spades 3 has no time limits. So take your time, and be thorough. Make as many good moves as you possibly can, and try not to miss any obvious ones.

Comments: There are a couple of things that I really like about the Ace of Spades 3. The cards are nice and big, and easy to read. That is something I always look for in a card game. And with 45 different boards, with some easy and some hard, you never know what you are going to get. This variety makes things interesting and keeps you on your toes. One other cool feature is the Ace of Spades card itself. You never know if, or when, it is going to show up and help you.

Family Feud

Game Description: Family Feud is based on the popular TV show of the same name. Try to guess the most popular answers to the survey questions. There are four rounds of play in which you will be asked a survey question. You have 20 seconds to give an answer. After the four rounds are complete, if you are ahead of the average score, you will go on to play the Fast Money round where you have the opportunity to earn bonus money. Good luck, and have fun!

How to Play Family Feud:
  • Click the 'Play' button.
  • There are four rounds of play in which you will be asked a survey question.
  • Your goal is to try to come up with the most popular answers.
  • You have 20 seconds to give an answer.
  • Use your keyboard to type in your answer in the available space near the bottom. Then, either use your mouse to click the 'Submit' button, or use your keyboard to press 'Enter'.
  • Each correct answer will earn you points.
  • If you give an incorrect answer, or run out of time, you will get a strike.
  • If you cannot think of any answer, and do not want to wait for the 20 seconds to count down, you may click the 'No Answer' button located at the lower right corner. This will also earn you a strike.
  • The round ends when either you come up with all of the correct answers, or when you get three strikes.
  • After each round, the announcer will let you know if you are ahead of the average score by saying: "Good work. You're ahead." If you are behind the average score he will say: "That's okay.You can still catch up!"
  • After the four rounds are complete, if you are ahead of the average score, you will go on to play Fast Money.
  • If after the four rounds are complete, and you have less points than the average score, the game is over. (Click the 'Play Again' button to begin a new game).

How to Play the Family Feud Fast Money Rounds:
  • If, after the four rounds are played, and you have earned more points than the average score, you will play the Fast Money part of the game.
  • There are two rounds in Fast Money.
  • The Fast Money rounds consist of five survey questions.
  • For Round 1 of Fast Money, you have 50 seconds to answer as many of the five questions as you can.
  • If you cannot think of an answer, you may click the 'Pass' button located at the lower right corner. Clicking 'Pass' allows you to immediately go to the next question. If there is still time on the clock, you may come back to any questions that you passed and still give an answer.
  • For Round 2 of Fast Money, you will be given the same five survey questions from Round 1. This time you will be given 55 seconds on the clock. But now, you must come up with a different answer than you gave in Round 1.
  • Just like in Round 1 you may click the 'Pass' button to skip a question and come back to it later, if there is still time on the clock.
  • You win the Fast Money if you can earn a combined minimum of at least 200 points during the two Fast Money Rounds.

Family Feud Game Options: The game options may be accessed by clicking the 'Menu' button located at the lower right corner. The game options are:
  • The music may be turned on or off.
  • The sound effects may be turned on or off.

Family Feud Playing Tips:
  • Because this is the free demo version of Family Feud, there are a limited number of questions available. To keep things interesting, at least for a while, you may want to challenge yourself when you start getting repeat questions and see how many of the answers you can remember. Doing this can still keep the game fun, at least for a short while.

Pro: Family Feud has captivating music, great sound effects, and a fabulous announcer. I mean really, how great is that announcer? But the best part of all, is how truly interactive the announcer is according to the game situation. For instance, if you missed the fourth answer, he will say "Let's see number four". How cool is that? Overall, Family Feud is great entertainment.

Con:
  • The big drawback, and it is a significant drawback indeed, is the limited number of questions available in this free demo version of Family Feud. After playing for a relatively short time, you will begin to get repeat questions which certainly takes the fun out of playing.
  • I don't know how old this game is, but judging by some of the answers it seems somewhat out-dated. Especially when you see the answers to some of the questions about electronic gadgets. Those should give you a chuckle.
