Bad Apple

Game Description: Bad Apple is a fun version of Minesweeper. Try to eat only good apples. If you eat a bad apple, the game is over!

How to Play Bad Apple:
  • Click on any apple to begin.
  • If the first apple you clicked on is a bad apple, the game is instantly over and you will need to try again.
  • If the first apple you clicked on is a good apple, you are still in the game, and Bad Apple will show you how many bad apples are next to your good apple (either horizontally, vertically, or diagonally) by displaying a number inside it's box.
  • Now that you know how many bad apples are next to your good apple, it is time to click another apple. Using deductive reasoning, and sometimes an educated guess, try to find more good apples and avoid any bad apples.
  • Anytime you click on a bad apple... it is game over!
  • Find all of the good apples on the board, without finding any bad apples... and you win!

Bad Apple Playing Tips:
  • This game requires a little bit of luck, and a lot of skill and deductive reasoning. Selecting your first apple is where the luck comes in. You have no way of knowing if that first apple is a good apple, or a bad apple. You just have to take a chance. In some games, this element of luck may apply to your first several apples… depending on the board. But, assuming you selected a good apple with your first few picks, and you are still in the game… this is where things get interesting. Many times you will be able to analyze the board and be able to deduce with 100% certainty that a specific apple is good… in which case you will click it; or that a specific apple is bad… and you will avoid it. Other times, you may be less than 100% certain, and you will simply have to trust your instinct… which only adds to the anticipation!

Richard's Rating: 4 out of 5.

Comments: The graphics and sound effects… though there are only a few variations, are absolutely sensational. Kids will unquestionably love this game. But adults will appreciate this game too, for all of its intricate details. All in all, a truly wonderful game!

3D Frogger

Game Description: Maneuver the frogs across the perilous highway, over the swift river, and then leap into the safety of the caves before time runs out. Get frogs in all 5 caves to beat each level.

How to Play 3D Frogger:
  • You begin the game with 5 extra lives.
  • Use your 4 arrow keys to move the frogs.
  • You lose a life if your frog gets hit by a car, falls into the water, or if you run out of time.
  • Get frogs in all 5 caves to beat each level.
  • Only one frog per cave is allowed!

Richard's Rating: 4 out of 5.

Pro: Prior to downloading this game, my only knowledge of Frogger was from a 1998 episode of Seinfeld. If you are a Seinfeld fan you probably remember the episode where George, upon discovering he still had the high Frogger score from his school days, tried unsuccessfully to bring the Frogger machine back to his apartment! Much to my delight, I discovered that the learning-curve to this game is very short. If, you are like me, and you have never played Frogger before, you will easily get the hang of it in about 10 minutes or so. The best part of this Frogger edition are the 3-D graphics and sound effects. They are exceptional!

Con: I wish there was some way to turn off that annoying background music. Sure, you can turn your speakers down, but then you lose all of the other great sound effects. (By the way, if there is a way to turn off the background music and still keep the other sound effects on... please let me know. You can always post a comment in the comment box below each game). Thanks Richard

Bowling

Game Description: Throw the ball and knock down the pins!

How to Play Bowling:
  • In order to throw the ball, push the GO! button with your mouse.
  • Keep it pressed until the yellow field at the aiming picture goes white.
  • The closer the yellow field you hit, the more you score.

Richard's Rating: 5 out of 5.

Comments: I appreciate this game for its pure simplicity. After you throw one or two balls... you will immediately understand all there is to know about playing this game. There is virtually no learning curve. That makes this game ideal for kids... although anyone, of any age, will certainly enjoy playing this superb bowling game. And, what a game this is! It really is almost as fun as going to a real bowling alley. Superior graphics and sound effects add to the fun. I wholeheartedly give this game my highest rating of 5 out of 5.

Mini Putt 3

Game Description: Play 18 holes of miniature golf.

How to Play Mini Putt 3
  • Click the Start game button.
  • Use your mouse and click anywhere on the tee (the dark green rectangular patch) to place your ball in the desired starting position.
  • Use your mouse to make each putt.
  • There are 18 holes to play.
  • Par is 70.

Mini Putt 3 Game Options:
  • The sound may be turned on or off by clicking the 'Sound' button located on the lower left corner of the game screen. The sounds in this game are minimal. So, unless you want it super quiet there really is no reason to turn the sound off.
  • If you goof things up too badly you may restart the game by clicking the 'Restart' button (also located on lower left corner of the game screen).

Mini Putt 3 Playing Tips:
  • Plan each putt carefully. Play the angles.
  • Decide where you want to place the ball on each tee to get the desired angle for your first putt.

Richard's Rating: 5 out of 5.

Pro: Mini Putt 3 is easy to play... but challenging at the same time. Par is 70. Can you break 100? Nice sound effects add to the entertainment. A ton of fun. I absolutely love this game!

Con: On two separate occasions I somehow managed to get off the course and outside of the boundaries. I don't know how this happened... but it did. I am not sure if this happened on the same hole, or not. But I know that both times I was about two-thirds of the way to completing the game. The first time this occurred my ball was so far out of bounds it was off the screen. I could not figure how to get my ball back in play so I had to give up and hit 'Restart' and begin the game over again... which is obviously frustrating. On the second occurrence I could see my ball and advance it as usual, but after a minute or two of trying, I could not figure out how to get the ball back on the course. So again, I had to give up and restart the game. Perhaps I wasn't patient enough? Hopefully, this won't happen to you. But if it does... and if you find a solution... I would appreciate it if you would post your solution in the comment box below and I will pass this information along to my readers. Even though I had these two frustrating experiences, I like this game so much I still give it my highest rating of 5 out of 5.

Pro: I like this version of chess because it has three difficulty levels: Advanced, Casual, or Novice. So anyone, no matter what their skill level, can play without feeling overwhelmed.

Con: This game does not have any sound effects, but is still fun to play. There is a clock but I am not sure of its purpose.

  • The 'Play Again' and 'Reset' buttons do not work. Each time you want to play again you will need to refresh the page.

Richard's Rating: 2 out of 5.

Pro: Koala Checkers is easy to win. You are sure to win just about every game because the computer, quite frankly, is not very good. The fact that it is so easy to win makes it a great game-playing choice for kids. The game also features entertaining sound effects which adds to the fun.

Con: Koala Checkers is too easy to win. The computer, as I mentioned above, is not very good. Still, this can be a nice game to play if you just want something easy to relax with for a few minutes.

Deal or No Deal

Game Description: Deal or No Deal plays just like the game show on TV.

How to Play Deal or No Deal:

  • You will get a "phone call" from the Banker, who makes an offer to buy your case for a certain amount, based on the cash amounts still in play.
  • If you accept the buyout, the game ends, and the contents of your case is revealed; letting you know if you made a good deal... or a bad deal!
  • Should you refuse the offer, then you must choose five of the remaining cases to eliminate from consideration.
  • Another offer from the Banker is made, and play continues until either you accept the Banker's offer or you end up with the final case.

Richard's Rating: 4 out of 5.

Comments: Since most of us will never get the opportunity to appear on the real 'Deal or No Deal', this computer-generated version will have to do. And... it does not disappoint. The music and sound effects make this game top-notch!
